Who we are
We are a collective of learning-disabled members, families, teachers and partner organisations.
Our members are young people with a range of learning-disabilities and neurodiversty, at various stages of transition from school to adult life.
Together, we like to be known as ‘Pelicans’.
What we do
We take part in a program of regular groups, projects and social activities that aims to reduce isolation, raise our quality of life and improve the community around us. You can keep up with our work here:
What we want
Purpose: We want opportunities to try new things and follow our passions. We want to be challenged and supported to learn, whether it’s a new skill or progress with communication and independence. We want to shape and be heard in our community.
Belonging: We want to feel part of the Pelican family, with regular and varied opportunities to connect with each other.
Community: We don’t just want to be part of the Pelican family. We want to feel at home in our wider community. We want to work with key community organisations and a network of collaborators.
The Pelican Project is delivered through a ‘community engagement’ model. For more information on this, and more detail on our aims & objectives, please email helen@pelicanproject.org.uk
